Adult Art Course - Acrylic Painting 101

This course will involve the process and skills involved to create a painting from the first initial planning stages to the completed final piece.

Inspiration

How do you find inspiration? Which sources to look at. Where to find inspiration. How to use inspiration to benefit you and your painting.

Tools

What are the tools and paints that will bring you the desired effect? Testing and experimenting with different tools and mediums. Students will also learn how to look after and respect certain tools.

Colour palette

What colour combinations go well with each other. Colour theory. Colour terms

Sam will share with you her process that gets her inspired to paint and her favorite painting tools.

Mark making without judgement

It's easy to overthink our painting process, to deliberate every mark we make. Sam will show you how she moves past this and keeps her process fun and fresh.

Learning to trust your intuition

It can feel counterintuitive to step back from your painting but sometimes this breathing space is necessary for you to come up with new ways of how to push your process. Sam will also share with you tips on what to do when you're stuck and not sure which way to go.

Finishing touches and calling it done

Pencils, crayons, markers - this is their time to shine as the painting is being slowly finished. Sam will share with you her tips on finishing the painting strong - together with making sure that the edges of your art are crisp and the piece is signed and varnished.
